Alvarez & Marsal hires Matt Campbell to lead talent and people practice
Management consultancy Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has hired Matt Campbell as managing director and leader of its revamped talent, organization, and people management (TOP) practice.
Campbell brings more than 25 years of human resources consulting and functional experience to the role, where he will oversee a practice focusing on “elevating the human side of business,” a press release from the New York-headquartered firm said.
The reorganized TOP practice will use its existing capabilities in human capital and organizational consulting to help companies align with shifting workplace dynamics and market demand. It will help clients build workforce strategies and development programs that align with brand promises; design organizations and build cultures that drive positive change; and enhance employee lifecycles and support DEI.
“Our TOP practice will continue to capitalize on our results-oriented mindset and delivery approach. Increasingly, clients must effectively manage the human side of business to support long term, profitable growth,” said Cyndi Joiner, managing director and co-lead of A&M’s corporate performance improvement group, within which the TOP practice resides.
Campbell joins A&M from KPMG US, where he spent the last 11 years and was latterly a managing director in the people and change practice. He focused on leading engagements in future-of-work issues including organization design, technology transformation, skills-based workforce planning, remote and hybrid working adoption, and experience improvement.
“We’re operating at a time of shifting employee expectations and newly emerging work models,” Joiner added. “Effective workforce strategies, organizational design, and people management provide a competitive advantage. Propelling growth means helping clients navigate accessing and retaining top talent to enhance their organizational capabilities and foster a collaborative corporate culture. Matt’s leadership and expertise dovetails with A&M’s operational heritage, furthering our ability to solve for our clients’ complex human capital concerns.”
Before KPMG, Campbell held several HR function leadership roles at organizations in his native Australia, including serving as group HR director at Ovato, a large printing and distribution company. He has bachelor’s degrees in HR management and hotel management from Griffith University, Australia, and a master’s degree in organization dynamics from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
A&M earlier this year hired Richard Bergin as a managing director and co-leader of its economic consulting team in North America.
