Epidemiologist Wendy Cheng joins BRG's healthcare practice
Wendy Cheng, PhD, has joined Berkeley Research Group (BRG)’s healthcare practice as a managing director based in Boston.
In her new role, Cheng, an epidemiology expert, will support pharma clients in developing strategies for product differentiation and access and implementing analytic methods to provide evidence of comparative effectiveness and safety of therapeutic products. She will also provide expert support and testimony in disputes requiring analysis of clinical data.
Cheng spent the last 12 years at Analysis Group, a healthcare consulting firm, where she most recently was a vice president. Cheng’s work focused on advising pharma companies on data analytics for product development, regulatory approval, and market adoption.
She specializes in applying advanced methodologies to address complex healthcare research challenges. Cheng’s research has been published in numerous medical journals.
Before entering consulting, she was a research scientist at Columbia University and a biostatistician in the clinical trials network of the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Cheng holds a PhD and MPH in epidemiology from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
"Wendy's knowledge of advanced epidemiologic research methods and tools such as machine learning is at the leading edge in the field," said Edward Buthusiem, a managing director in BRG's health analytics practice. "With her impressive academic background and over a decade of experience working with the pharmaceutical industry, she excels at sourcing viable, high-grade data to assess the safety of medications. Her work is pivotal to core pharmaceutical research processes—from the development of a drug to clinical trials to its widespread release—and our clients will greatly benefit from her talents."
BRG is headquartered in Emeryville, CA and provides services in corporate finance, disputes and investigations, and performance improvement and advisory. The firm has 1,200+ professionals across offices in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific regions.
BRG earlier this month announced the hiring of Frank Dery as a Chicago-based managing director in its forensic accounting practice.
