Pure Strategies, a Gloucester, MA-based sustainability consulting firm, has launched Pure Supply, a platform for supplier engagement in sustainability programs.

To reach their decarbonization targets, companies need their suppliers to also make progress on sustainability commitments – especially in industries such as food, apparel, and manufacturing that have significant upstream greenhouse gas emissions. In the food sector, for example, farm and land-related emissions can account for 60-90% of total scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

"Suppliers are critical partners in advancing corporate sustainability programs. However, companies often have a supplier base with different levels of resources and progress," said Tim Greiner, Pure Strategies co-founder and managing director. "As a result, coordinating a program that effectively engages multiple suppliers can be a lot of effort.”

Pure Supply allows clients to provide their suppliers with essential information, guidance, and support in sustainability. The platform includes a library of educational resources for supplier progress, expert advisory support, standardized assessments and data collection, and customizable progress dashboards to track supplier performance.

  1. Set/progress on science-based targets for climate
  2. Transition to using renewable energy

“Our new Pure Supply platform helps companies to manage their supply chain impacts by empowering suppliers with clear information, guidance, and support,” Greiner added. “Pure Supply helps companies to connect directly with their suppliers and communicate expectations, build capacity, collect data, and advance in critical sustainability goals."

Founded in 1998, Pure Strategies helps companies initiate and enhance sustainability programs. The firm’s offerings span strategy, products, supply chain, chemicals management, food and agriculture, and nature strategy.

Pure Strategies has worked with clients such as Walmart, Colgate-Palmolive, and Ben & Jerry’s.
