TRC Companies, a Windsor, CT-headquartered design and engineering consultancy, has acquired Strategic Energy Group (SEG), a Portland, OR-based consultancy specializing in strategic energy management.

Founded in 2005, SEG helps utilities and businesses achieve energy savings and operational excellence. The firm’s energy management programs drive energy efficiency throughout organizations via continuous improvement methodologies.

SEG has implemented custom energy management solutions across more than 1,000 commercial sites and factories in North America.

The boutique firm has over 60 employees listed on LinkedIn.

“Strategic Energy Group empowers utilities and businesses to capitalize on energy efficiency as a source of competitive advantage," said Christopher Vincze, chairman and CEO of TRC. "SEG delivers measurable savings, eliminates tons of CO2 in lifetime emissions, and helps companies build a culture of long-term sustainable performance."

TRC has 8,000+ employees across 150+ offices in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, India, and China.

The firm provides consulting, engineering, construction, and management services to clients in utilities, energy, transportation, commercial and industrial, water, government, and professional services.

TRC is ranked #17 on ENR’s list of the top 500 design firms, #5 for power, and #3 for transmission and distribution.

"TRC and SEG share a passion for helping clients prepare for the energy transition through thoughtful approaches that benefit the environment, the community, and the client," said Jim Volkman, principal of SEG.
