WSP adds Christopher Dorang as maritime national technical director
WSP, a design and engineering consulting firm, has hired Christopher Dorang as SVP and maritime national technical director.
Based in Houston, Dorang brings more than 30 years of experience in waterfront development and marine projects. He has served as an engineering design manager and project manager, and has held leadership and technical roles on numerous port facility projects – including dry docks, container terminals, cruise facilities, and US Navy facilities.
In his new role at WSP, Dorang will oversee execution of maritime projects in the US and will be responsible for managing project teams, assisting with proposals, leading design development, fostering client service, and mentoring professionals.
“Christopher’s arrival at WSP further solidifies our firm’s position as a leader in the U.S. maritime market,” said Kosal Krishnan, SVP and maritime national market leader for WSP. “His experience covers the full breadth of the maritime industry, which will help inform our dynamic group of marine engineers and improve critical waterfront facilities for our clients.”
Dorang previously spent over 22 years at engineering consultancy Jacobs, where he was latterly a senior project manager.
He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State University and holds a professional engineer designation in Texas and Pennsylvania.
Headquartered in Montreal, WSP has more than 66,500 employees globally, including 14,000 in the United States. The firm provides strategic advisory, engineering, and design services in transportation, infrastructure, environment, buildings, energy, water, and mining.
WSP earlier this summer hired Patty Rubstello, former assistant secretary for Washington State Ferries, as national transportation strategic advisor.
