Integrated Specialty Coverages (ISC), a Carlsbad, CA-based multi-line insurance distributor, has launched a marine risk consulting unit.

The unit is part of the firm’s marine division, which was unveiled in June, and offers products across areas such as general cargo, hull and protection and indemnity, and marine general liability.

The risk consulting unit will provide solutions in supply chain review, project cargo logistics surveys, hull builder’s risk and yard assessments, and analysis of port facilities, among other areas. The unit will support existing clients, contractors, insurers, suppliers, and transportation/logistics companies.

ISC has hired Andrew Kinsey as director of marine risk consulting. Kinsey has over 30 years of maritime experience, including 25+ years sailing in the Merchant Marine. A Master with unlimited tonnage and “any ocean” rating designation, Kinsey is also a certified NAMS-CMS and SAMS-AMS surveyor and is currently the US representative at the International Union of Marine Insurance.

Kinsey joins ISC from Liberty Mutual, where he spent nearly three years as a senior account engineer for ocean marine. Before that he spent seven years as a senior marine risk consultant at Allianz and five years as a senior marine surveyor at ACE USA Marine Advisory Services.

“We are thrilled to bring Captain Andrew Kinsey onboard as our Director of Marine Risk Consulting,” said Kevin Wolfe, SVP of the marine division. “Our new Marine Risk Consulting services in addition to our underwriting team allow us the opportunity to broaden our footprint and better serve the Marine insurance industry.”

Founded in 2016, ISC is an insurance distributor that focuses on using sophisticated technology, including AI and analytics, to improve how complex programs are underwritten and operated. The firm specializes in commercial habitational property, general liability, construction, transportation, and hospitality.

ISC was in March 2021 acquired by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, a New York-based investment firm.
