Verdantas acquires Aegis Environmental
Verdantas, a Tampa-based engineering and environmental consulting firm, has acquired Aegis Environmental, a Richmond, VA-based environmental consultancy.
Founded in 1996, Aegis provides services in environmental health & safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability consulting to clients in utilities, municipalities, higher education, and federal government.
The firm has a team of 26 professionals, according to its website.
Verdantas’ acquisition of Aegis will expand its presence into Virginia and enhance its capabilities in permitting, stormwater erosion control, stormwater pollution prevention plans, environmental health and safety, and sustainability.
“This acquisition widens our geographic footprint while increasing our combined environmental health and safety and sustainability advisory team by almost twofold. As a result, we can now scale our services nationally and further advance our sustainability related efforts,” said Jesse Kropelnicki, CEO of Verdantas.
Sterling Capital Partners in May 2024 acquired Verdantas from previous private equity owner Round Table Capital Partners (RTC).
RTC launched the Verdantas platform in July 2020 through the combination of portfolio companies Hull & Associates, Duffield Associates, HSW Consulting, GeoInsight, and Alden Research Laboratory, Inc.
The consulting firm has grown from a launch headcount of 450 people to a team of 1,600+ professionals nationwide.
“This transaction supports our vision of expanding capabilities and market reach for Verdantas,” said James Soldano, partner at Sterling Capital Partners. “The partnership with Aegis will strengthen Verdantas’ position in the environmental consulting industry and allow these combined businesses to deliver even greater overall value to our combined clients and stakeholders.”
