Michael Kwak joins BRG as managing director in securities practice

Michael Kwak has joined Berkeley Research Group (BRG), an Emeryville, CA-based management consulting firm, as a managing director in the securities practice.

Based in New York, Kwak brings more than two decades of experience advising law firms, corporations, and government agencies on securities litigation, market efficiency, damages estimation, and valuation.

He has supported testifying experts and provided expertise testimony in matters pertaining to class certification, liability, and damages phases of securities litigation.

“Michael’s strong relationships with leading academics and ability to translate complex economic concepts into actionable insights make him an outstanding addition to our team,” said David Sunding, PhD, vice chairman and leader of BRG’s global economics, disputes and investigations business line. “As we continue to build and expand our Securities practice, his expertise and network will be instrumental in advancing our analytical depth and client reach.”

Kwak joins BRG from Analysis Group, where he was a VP. Prior to that, he was an EVP at Compass Lexecon and a senior director at FTI Consulting. Earlier in his career, Kwak held account executive roles at Josephthal & Co. and National Securities.

He has a master’s degree in economics from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Columbia University.
