Bob Marcum joins BRG’s energy practice as managing director

Bob Marcum, an experienced energy finance leader, has joined BRG, a Washington, DC-headquartered management consulting firm, as a managing director in its energy and climate practice.

Based in the firm’s headquarters, Marcum brings more than 30 years of energy sector experience. In his new role at BRG, Marcum will advise clients on energy and infrastructure investments – including project and corporate finance, restructuring, due diligence, and lender program design.

He previously spent 13 years at the US Department of Energy’s Loans Program Office (now EDF), where he was deputy director of the loan programs office. In the role, he directed $61 billion in new loan closings for US energy, critical minerals, and manufacturing projects. Before that, he was director of the officer’s portfolio management division, where he oversaw asset management – including restructuring and bankruptcies – for the $32-billion portfolio.

Earlier in his career, he spent four years with Saudi Aramco as finance team lead and five years with Export-Import Bank of the United States, where he was a senior project officer leading teams in the underwriting and negotiation of financings of international projects in energy, transport, and tech.

Marcum began his career with Wartsila, an energy sector equipment manufacturer and services firm, where he spent seven years and was a development manager.

He has an MBA from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland.

“Bob brings a rare combination of public and private-sector debt and equity financing experience across some of the most consequential energy and infrastructure investments of the past decade,” said Christopher Goncalves, chair of BRG’s energy and climate practice. “His demonstrated ability to guide organizations in deploying capital at scale and navigating complex stakeholder environments will be invaluable to clients as they pursue energy security and transition-related infrastructure opportunities.”

BRG has 1,600+ employees across 40+ global offices providing expert and consulting services in disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement.

The firm’s energy and climate practice provides a range of strategic, commercial, transactional, forecasting, regulatory, and operational consulting services to hydrocarbon, power, and renewable energy companies, lenders and investors, and law firms.

“I’m very pleased to be joining BRG’s burgeoning Energy & Climate practice,” said Marcum. “The firm’s combination of deep industry expertise and multidisciplinary capabilities puts it in an ideal position to help clients navigate increasingly complex energy and infrastructure investment challenges.”
