BRG hires Sohan Dasgupta as managing director

BRG, a Washington, DC-based management consulting firm, has hired former senior government official Sohan Dasgupta, PhD, as a managing director in its global trade and compliance practice.

Based in the firm’s headquarters, Dasgupta brings a decade of government and legal sector experience. He has deep expertise in complex cross-border regulatory and compliance matters, such as foreign investment screening, sanctions, export controls, outbound investment, supply chain risk, and forced labor enforcement.

Dasgupta also has experience in international arbitration and litigation.

He previously spent four years at the Department of Homeland Security, where he was assistant secretary for trade and economic security and deputy general counsel. He also spent three years as a partner at law firm Taft Stettinus & Hollister LLP and a year as special counsel at the Department of Education.

Earlier in his career, he spent two years as a judicial law clerk across the US Court of Appeals and US District Courts.

Dasgupta has a PhD in international law from the University of Cambridge, a JD from the University of California, Berkeley, a master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.

“Sohan brings a rare combination of senior government experience, legal judgment, and deep knowledge of international trade and national security issues,” said Ray Kolls, leader of BRG’s forensic accounting and investigations group. “His perspective will be highly valuable to clients navigating increasingly complex regulatory requirements and geopolitical risks.”

Dasgupta added, “I am honored to join BRG. The firm’s distinctive combination of intellectual rigor, multidisciplinary expertise, and genuine client focus provides an exceptional platform to advise organizations on the increasingly complex intersection of trade, investment, and national security.”

BRG has 1,600+ employees across 40+ global offices providing expert and consulting services in disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement.

The firm recently welcomed Sophie Park, PhD, and Amparo Nieto as directors.
