H&H provides broad-based services in civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, as well as architectural and planning services. The firm has worked on numerous complex and high-profile infrastructure engagements since its foundation in 1887, with expertise in bridges, roads, tunnels, railways. The firm was founded by Dr. J.A.L Waddell, the patent holder for the first modern vertical lift bridge design.

While headquartered in New York City, H&H has more than 20 offices across the United States. Some of its notable recent design projects include the Sarah Mildred Long Vertical Lift Bridge, the Kew Gardens Interchange, and the Gasparilla Island Swing Bridge Replacement.

The acquisition reinforces H&H’s capabilities in its planning studies segment, especially in traffic planning. Frederick P. Clark Associates’ expertise in the area will bolster H&H’s ability to support municipalities with traffic impact assessments and subsequent operational improvement planning.

"We are delighted to welcome Frederick P. Clark Associates to Hardesty & Hanover,” H&H CEO Sean Bluni said. “We are very familiar with their outstanding credentials, having worked closely with them on projects in New York for many years.

“They are a respected engineering and planning firm with a talented staff that has grown to become a recognized leader for communities, public institutions, and private developers. Their steadfast focus on professionalism, excellence, teamwork, and client relationships align well with our core values," he added.

Frederick P. Clark Associates will retain its name, but as a "a Hardesty & Hanover company,” rather than being entirely rolled into the H&H brand.
