Baker Tilly appoints Monica Modi Dalwadi as Metro DC managing partner
Accounting and consulting firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause has appointed Monica Modi Dalwadi as the managing partner for its metro DC market, effective June 1.
Dalwadi brings more than 15 years of accounting and advisory experience to the role, where she will provide leadership, management, and strategic direction for the 400-person-strong Tysons, Virginia office. Dalwadi will also continue to serve clients in the areas of internal audit, risk assessment, forensics reviews, and consulting. She succeeds Todd Stokes, who was recently promoted to head of people strategy.
Dalwadi joined Baker Tilly in 2004, and has been a partner in the risk, internal audit, and cybersecurity practice since 2013. Her client base includes medical facilities, higher education, not-for-profits, and real estate organizations.
“Monica brings an impressive background in consulting and a fresh perspective as managing partner of the metro DC market,” Stokes said. “Her passion and commitment to our clients and our people along with her willingness to try new things will serve her well in her new role. Monica is an exceptional choice to lead our metro DC market well into the future.”
Dalwadi also serves as the national leader for the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiative, and serves on Baker Tilly’s growth and retention of women committee. Active in the non-profit community, Dalwadi was recognized with an All-Star Award for her advocacy work for the National Kidney Foundation. She was also recognized as a 2016 Minority Business Leader by the Washington Business Journal.
Before joining Baker Tilly, Dalwadi worked in the internal audit department of First Citizens Bank, leading risk assessments and auditing lending, deposits, and trusts. She also previously worked at accounting and consulting firm Dixon Hughes.
Dalwadi holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BS in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
“I am excited to continue building upon the strong foundation of exceptional client service that has been established in the metro D.C. market,” Dalwadi said.
