New firm HAIL Ventures and Consulting launches in Washington

HAIL Ventures and Consulting (HAIL VC) has been launched by a group of multi-industry entrepreneurs, executives, and attorneys.

Based in Washington, DC, HAIL VC combines venture investment and business and legal advisory services. The firm serves entrepreneurs, business owners, and ventures, acting as a strategic partner across the entire business cycle. HAIL VC will deliver advisory services in the areas of planning, due diligence, innovation, execution, management solutions, and divestitures.

The new firm is headed by partners Vincent Calo, Robert Brabo, and Marci Strathearn. The leaders bring decades of experience in business and legal and advisory services, and entrepreneurialism. Their backgrounds cover business law, sports and entertainment, healthcare, real estate, government, and military.

Vincent Calo (CEO and general counsel) previously founded and ran a law practice and sports management firm (THE GAME Sports Management & Media). He was also previously an attorney in the sports and entertainment division of McCarthy, Lebit, Crystal & Liffman Co, and of counsel at Mansour Gavin LPA.

Calo holds a JD from New York Law School, an MBA from the University of Michigan, and a BA from the University of Akron.

Robert Brabo (principal) previously served as chief of HR operations at the White House Communications Agency and presidential communications officer for Presidents Bush and Obama. Prior to that, he was director of HR services for the US Army in Germany.

After retiring from the US Army, co-founded a consulting agency that assisted government contractors in HR strategies and contract proposals. Brabo most recently served as VP of HR at National Spine & Pain Centers. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS in business administration from Strayer University.

Marci Strathearn (principal and officer) previously served as a captain in the US Army, and continued on as a financial systems analyst and comptroller in the Department of the Army Civilian. She holds an MBA from ITT Technical Institute and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from State University of New York College at Brockport.
