Riveron acquires turnaround firm Winter Harbor
Riveron, a national business advisory firm, has acquired Winter Harbor, a Boston-based restructuring and turnaround consulting firm. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Winter Harbor was founded in 2012, and helps clients across a range of industries improve their operational performance, liquidity and capital structure, as well as implement change. The company’s offerings span restructuring and turnaround; crisis and interim management; financial advisory and assessment; capital raising, transaction support, and due diligence; and bankruptcy, insolvency, and case management.
The Boston firm is led by managing partners Dalton Edgecomb, Shaun Martin, and Stuart Noyes, and consists of 22 professionals.
Riveron’s acquisition of Winter Harbor will expand its turnaround and restructuring practice and give it a new office in Boston. The deal builds on Riveron’s December 2019 acquisition of Conway MacKenzie, a Detroit-based turnaround and restructuring firm.
“Combining with Winter Harbor marks an important step in Riveron’s growth journey,” said Landon Smith, founder and CEO of Riveron. “Winter Harbor’s talented team of dynamic professionals brings exceptional depth of expertise that will enhance our ability to serve clients across the entire business lifecycle, extend our geographic footprint to Boston and the greater New England area, and further strengthen our national restructuring capabilities.”
Demand for turnaround, restructuring, and operational improvement advisory has grown as companies face down the unprecedented impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The retail, travel and hospitality, and energy sectors have been particularly affected by pandemic-driven business restrictions and changes in consumer behavior.
“Increasingly, more and more companies will require support navigating the current landscape and preparing for the future,” said Jeff Zappone, chief integration officer and leader of Riveron’s restructuring and turnaround services practice. “As a proven leader in the turnaround and restructuring space, Winter Harbor will be a powerful amplifier as we continue to guide our clients through the uncertainty ahead.”
Riveron was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Dallas. The firm specializes in accounting, finance, and operations advisory. Riveron’s consulting offerings include accounting and finance operations, performance improvement, restructuring and turnaround, M&A strategy, and technology enablement.
The company has more than 500 employees across 14 US offices.
