Felix Global adds J. James O'Malley and Marc Detampel to lead executive search
Felix Global, a recruitment and HR consulting firm, has hired experienced consultants J. James O’Malley and Marc Detampel to lead the firm’s new executive search practice. The two managing directors will be based in in the company's US head office in Chicago.

The new practice is part of Felix’s growth strategy, which includes expansion of its services portfolio. The firm’s other core offerings are leadership development (coaching, emerging leaders, team effectiveness); organizational effectiveness (company culture, HR strategy and outsourcing); career management; and outplacement.
Founded in 1986, Felix Global has more that 20 offices across the US and Canada.
O’Malley brings more than 30 years of experience in talent acquisition, and has completed thousands of recruiting assignments across private equity, professional services, financial services, and supply chain industries. He previously co-founded and ran retained search firm Comhar Partners for over two years. Prior to that, O’Malley spent more than six years as a partner at TalentRISE, a Chicago-based recruitment firm, and four-and-a-half years as a managing director at Huron Consulting Group.He also previously held a number senior internal HR roles, serving as SVP of workforce planning & executive talent acquisition at Fifth Third Bank, VP of human resources at Edward Don & Company, national director of experience recruiting at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, and national director of human resources at Deloitte & Touche.
O’Malley holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from DePaul University.
Detampel has 25 years of consulting experience in executive talent advisory, human capital strategy, change management, leadership development, and organizational design. He has particular expertise in recruiting and talent management advisory for clients in professional services and telecom.
Detampel previously spent five years at consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal, where he was a managing director and leader of the human capital and change management practice for the US East region. Before that, he spent over three years at EY, where he was a principal and leader of the HR performance improvement practice in the Midwest.
He was also previously a partner in Accenture’s talent and organization performance practice and a managing director in PwC’s talent management and HR effectiveness practice. Earlier in his career, Detampel worked at BearingPoint and Arthur Andersen.
He holds a master’s degree in HR management from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marquette University.
