SierraConstellation Partners launches performance improvement unit
SierraConstellation Partners (SCP), an advisory and interim management firm focused on the middle market, has launched a performance improvement practice.
“Performance improvement consulting is a natural extension of our interim leadership and financial advisory practice, and something that has been part and parcel of what we have done at SierraConstellation Partners from the outset,” said Larry Perkins, the firm’s founder and chief executive officer.
The new practice of the Los Angeles-headquartered consultancy launches against a backdrop of strong demand for performance improvement, in light of the growing need for mid-sized and small companies to optimize their cost base and work in more agile fashion.
“Our performance improvement team will focus on delivering long-term strategic advice and hands-on execution that will help clients improve operations, establish more rigorous financial controls, capture synergies from mergers and transactions, more effectively manage working capital, and address a range of other performance challenges focused on driving profitability and EBITDA growth,” explained Perkins.
The offering will sit alongside SierraConstellation Partners’ three other business lines – financial restructuring, turnaround, and interim.
To establish and grow the new practice, the 40-strong consultancy (which has five other offices across the US) has brought veteran Jim Peters on board. Appointed a managing director, Peters previously gained over three decades of experience in operational excellence and improvement at major and boutique consulting firms, as well as in industry.
He most recently served as director and CEO of Enovation Partners, an advisory firm serving clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors (part of Roland Berger). Earlier in his career, Peters served as a principal at Partners in Performance (an Australian-origin consultancy) and as a partner at McKinsey & Company and AlixPartners.
“Performance improvement is what I do, and what I have done for my entire career. As the economy rebounds it’s a major market opportunity,” said Peters. “I’m thankful that SierraConstellation Partners recognizes this opportunity, and that they have given me the chance to lead this practice. I’m looking forward to putting my experience to work.”
