Baker Tilly US buys West Virginia-based Arnett Carbis Toothman
Baker Tilly US has acquired Arnett Carbis Toothman LLP (ACT), a Charleston, WV-based accounting and consulting firm.
Founded in 1946, ACT provides assurance, tax, and consulting services to commercial, government, and non-profit organizations. The firm’s consulting services include business valuation, litigation support, regulatory and compliance, and IT consulting.
ACT has approximately 275 employees across eight offices in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
Baker Tilly’s acquisition of ACT will bolster the mid-market firm’s US East region presence and capabilities.
“ACT has top-notch talent, strong leadership, and exceptional client relationships,” said Jeff Ferro, Baker Tilly regional managing partner for Eastern and Central US. “We are committed to this region and excited for the possibilities this combination will bring.”
Following the combination’s closure on November 1, ACT CEO James Hunt will become managing partner for Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Fred Massanova, Baker Tilly’s current managing partner for Pennsylvania, will be promoted to managing partner for the Eastern US region, and will report to Jeff Ferro.
“Baker Tilly brings substantial resources and capabilities to ACT’s clients — and a team member experience to match,” Hunt said. “There is a natural synergy and genuine respect between our firms, and we know that Baker Tilly is the right place with the right vision and strategy to excel.”
The acquisition builds on Baker Tilly’s August purchase of Margolin, Winer & Evens, which added 130 team members to the firm’s Metro New York offices.
Baker Tilly also this month expanded its technology practice with the acquisition of AcctTwo, a Houston-based Sage Intacct specialist.
