Booz Allen partners with Acalvio on cyber deception
Booz Allen Hamilton, a McLean VA-based management and technology consulting firm, has partnered with Acalvio to provide the Silicon Valley cybersecurity firm’s Shadowplex autonomous deception product to government and commercial clients.
Acalvio’s patented and FedRAMP-certified product helps organizations detect, investigate, and respond to malicious activity in information and operational technology environments across cloud and on-premises deployments.
Booz Allen’s partnership with Acalvio will add cyber deception to its technology toolkit to help clients set up proactive defenses that combat advanced persistent threats, ransomware, and insider threats.
Booz Allen’s team of 5,000+ cyber professionals currently use reverse engineering, predictive analytics, threat hunting, and machine learning, among other methods, to prepare for adversaries. With Acalvio’s “deception farm” architecture, the firm can deploy honeypot traps to detect and observe intruders – gaining unique insights to stop future breaches.
Acalvio’s ShadowPlex product automates and streamlines deployment of deception artifacts, and Booz Allen will provide ready-to-deploy packaged solutions to further simplify service delivery and impact for clients.
“As cyber threats grow increasingly advanced, Booz Allen is committed to developing secure, trusted, and resilient strategies that enhance the nation’s cybersecurity posture,” said Garrettson Blight, Booz Allen’s director of national cyber solutions. “To outpace the adversary, it is imperative that government and commercial organizations better integrate and synchronize the way they conduct cyber offense and defense. Booz Allen’s partnership with Acalvio achieves this, using offensive insights to inform cyber defense and addressing current gaps in the marketplace.”
Aside from having one of the largest cybersecurity practices in North America, Booz Allen also delivers services across management consulting, digital solutions and engineering, and data analytics. The firm has more than 25,000 people globally.
“We are proud to partner with Booz Allen to deliver innovative and ready-to-deploy cyber deception capabilities for government and commercial clients,” said CEO and Co-founder of Acalvio Technologies, Ram Varadarajan. “These offerings will empower government and commercial organizations to combat advanced cybersecurity challenges with solutions that deploy at speed and at scale in a fast-changing environment. With a combined focus on relentless innovation, this collaboration will allow clients to stay ahead of the competition and defend their most critical assets.”
Booz Allen recently launched a $100-million venture capital fund to invest in startups in defense, AI and machine learning, cybersecurity, and deep technology.
