K2 Integrity acquires cybersecurity firm Leviathan Security Group
K2 Integrity, a New York-based risk and compliance advisory firm, has acquired Leviathan Security Group, a Seattle-based cybersecurity consulting firm.
Founded in 2006 by Frank Heidt, Leviathan provides services in web application penetration testing, secure code review, network penetration testing, virtual CSIO services, tabletop exercises, smart device and IoT security assessment, and vendor security management services.
The firm works with public and private sector clients, including large tech companies such as Google, Intel, and Microsoft.
Leviathan has 45 employees listed on LinkedIn.
K2 says the Leviathan acquisition is part of its technology and AI-enabled strategic focus, which was set by CEO Aaron Karczmer, who joined the firm as its leader in October 2025. Karczmer, the former chief enterprise services officer and chief risk and compliance officer of PayPal, succeeded K2’s founding CEO Jeremy Kroll.
“Today’s announcement is the evolution of a long-term relationship I’ve maintained with Leviathan’s leader Frank Heidt, during which I have come to value his professionalism and innovative approach to cybersecurity challenges,” said Jules Kroll, K2 founder and chairman of the board. “We’ve continued to partner with Frank and Leviathan for their technical expertise, commitment to superior solutions, and respect amongst clients. Strengthening our relationship through this acquisition will be critical as we execute Aaron’s exciting vision.”
Jules Kroll founded risk and investigations consultancy Kroll in 1972 and sold the firm to Marsh in 2004 for $1.9 billion. After leaving the company in 2008, he founded K2 the next year.
K2 has practices in strategic advisory, financial crimes risk management, investigations and disputes, cyber risk management, crypto and digital asset solutions, national security, and internal audit services. The firm has more than 300 employees listed on LinkedIn and 10 offices worldwide.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Jules Kroll and K2 for over a decade and have always respected Jules’ role in shaping the modern investigations industry,” Heidt said. “Joining K2 is a natural evolution of that legacy and is a testament to Aaron’s vision for offering modern technology solutions to clients. We are excited to position ourselves for greater innovation, resilience, and growth.”
