Turnberry Solutions launches AWS consultancy Rise and Shift

Turnberry Solutions, a national IT consulting and staffing firm, has launched Rise and Shift, an Amazon Web Services consulting subsidiary.

The Minneapolis-based boutique firm is 100% focused on AWS advisory and solutions. The popular cloud computing platform owned a 33% share of the cloud infrastructure market as of Q4 2021, followed by Microsoft Azure (21%) and Google Cloud (10%), according to Synergy Group.

Rise and Shift will provide cloud transformation, digital product development, and innovative solutions to help companies optimize operations in the cloud. More than half of the firm’s team is composed of former AWS employees, and all team members hold AWS certifications.

Rise and Shift is led by Chris Howe, co-founder and CEO, and Alok Magan, co-founder and CRO.

Howe is a digital business strategist and transformation leader who spent the last 17 years at 3M, most recently serving as SVP for business transformation. Before that, he was VP of the manufacturing giant’s global applications center of excellence and director of global manufacturing and supply chain IT applications.

Howe has a master’s degree in technology management from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Magan has 30+ years of experience in IT consulting, technology, and manufacturing. He most recently served as Americas director for the industrial sector at AWS, and before that was SVP and North America head of manufacturing at Atos.

Earlier in his career, Magan was a strategic business unit leader at Cognizant and a client partner and delivery director at Tata Consultancy Services.

He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Punjabi University, India.

The firm has approximately 1,800 people across eight US offices.

Turnberry earlier this year opened a new office in Overland Park, Kansas.
