SGS Maine Pointe, a supply chain and operations consulting firm, has appointed Joseph Esteves as chief executive officer.

Esteves has 15 years of experience focusing on private equity, supply chain, and operations consulting. Since joining the firm in 2013 as a consultant, Esteves has held several leadership roles, including spending the last two years as senior managing director and head of private equity. In the role, Esteves worked with PE sponsors and mid-market companies to plan and implement supply chain and operational transformations that led to billions of dollars in increased valuations.

Before that, he was a managing director in the private equity practice and a vice president.

Prior to his tenure at SGS Maine Pointe, Esteves held supply chain and logistics analyst roles at CCL Industries, Login Logistics, and First Alliance Logistics Management.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial operations and supply chain management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Esteves is also a member of The Association of Corporate Growth and the Turnaround Management Association.

He was nominated as one of the Top 25 Consultants in North America in 2018 and was named one of Consulting Magazine’s Rising Stars of the Profession in 2019.

A frequent industry commentator, Esteves recently had an article in Private Equity International’s PE Hub magazine on creating sustainable value.

“Joseph’s deep slate of experience and track record of delivering value is accompanied by his strong, client-focused outlook,” said Jeffrey McDonald, EVP of business assurance at SGS.

SGS Maine Pointe was acquired in 2019 by SGS, a Switzerland-based multinational inspection, verification, testing, and certification company. Maine Pointe was founded in Boston in 2004 by Steven Bowen, who led the firm until 2021.

The consultancy today has more than 200 employees across the US, Canada, UK, Switzerland, and China providing services in operations excellence, supply chain resilience, sourcing optimization and procurement, data analytics, and sustainability.
