Jeffrey Matthews joins HKA’s Dallas office as partner
Jeffrey Matthews has joined the Dallas office of HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm, as a partner in the forensic accounting and commercial damages (FACD) practice.
Matthews brings nearly 30 years of experience providing financial investigations, forensic accounting, and litigation support to law firms, legal departments, and government agencies. A financial expert in corruption and white-collar crime, Matthews has testified in various court cases and arbitrations.
He has deep expertise in issues pertaining to the Lanham Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, the False Claims Act, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and is in Who’s Who Legal’s Investigations 2024 guide.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jeff to HKA as we continue growing our forensic accounting and commercial damages team. His experience calculating damages resulting from breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, diminution of value, and misappropriation of trade secrets, as well as his experience providing expert testimony on many occasions, will strengthen HKA’s position in the FACD market, allowing us to continue expanding and improving our service to clients,” said Ave Tucker, partner, strategic growth advisor, HKA.
Matthews joins from consulting firm StoneTurn, where he was a partner since 2019 and launched the firm’s Dallas office.
Before that, he was national partner-in-charge of forensic and litigation services at Weaver, a VP at Charles River Associates, and a managing director at LECG. Matthews began his career at Grant Thornton, where he was latterly a partner.
Aside from his consulting work, Matthews has since 2012 taught a master’s level course in professional accounting at the University of Texas at Arlington.
He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Louisiana Monroe and is a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner.
“HKA’s deep bench and global platform will enable me to continue to grow as a professional and to serve my clients at the highest level. HKA’s commitment to the practice and the market is nothing short of impressive,” Matthews said.
HKA recently welcomed Chad Salsbery as a Chicago-based partner in its FACD practice, which supports clients with fraud, forensic, and regulatory investigations for disputes in areas such as breach of contract, IP, and M&A.
Headquartered in London, HKA has over 1,000 professionals across 40+ offices globally, including 24 in the United States.
