J.S. Held promotes Joe Gulick to head of appraisals team

J.S. Held, a Jericho, NY-based technical and forensic advisory firm, has promoted Joe Gulick to head of its appraisals team.
Gulick, who is a vice president based in Dayton, OH, will oversee a group of appraisals experts who help clients determine replacement costs and actual cash value, business interruption, contents and machinery, law and ordinance claims, and period of restoration/delay, among other areas.
Gulick has two decades of experience in construction and 12 years of experience in insurance adjustment, claims management, and large loss management. He has extensive expertise in appraisals, mediations, depositions, and consults with insurers, law firms, and individuals seeking specialized damage assessment.
Gulick has been at J.S. Held since 2021. Before that, he spent a decade with Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he was a large loss claims manager.
He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice studies from the University of Dayton and an associate in claims certification.
“[Joe Gulick] brings a unique perspective to the role because of his construction experience, his time in-house at a large insurance company, as an independent appraisal consultant, and litigation expert witness," said Jim Stanilious, senior EVP and head of the insurance services division at J.S. Held.
