HKA adds digital forensics experts Andy Antunez and Richard Peters

HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm, has hired Andy Antunez and Richard Peters as partners in its digital forensics and data solutions practice in Texas.

The practice’s consultants focus on the collection, analysis, investigation, discovery, tracing, and governance of digital data. They support law firms, organizations, and government agencies on digital investigations involving high-tech crime, blockchain forensics, and cybersecurity.

Antunez is based in Dallas and brings over 20 years of experience in digital forensics, security, and IT, with expertise leading investigations relating to digital forensic collections, data destruction/manipulation, employment issues, fraud, and insider risk.

He has imaged 10,000+ computer devices and 5,000+ mobile devices and served as a forensics examiner, expert, neutral, or litigation consultant on over 500 matters.

Antunez previously spent 14 years at Alvarez & Marsal, where he was a senior director. Prior to that, he was a forensic technology and e-discovery manager at Grant Thornton and EY.

Antunez has an MBA from the University of Dallas and a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from West Texas A&M University. He is a licensed private investigator in the state of Texas.

Peters is based in Houston and has over 25 years of experience as an information security advisor focusing on cybersecurity, crypto tracing, cryptocurrency, digital forensics, investigations, and compliance.

He has particular expertise in penetration testing for applications, networks, and hardware – proving forensic and security assessments for cryptoasset tracing and blockchain investigations.

Peters joins from BRG, where he spent over five years and was a managing director. He also previously spent over 10 years at UHY Consulting, where he was a principal.

Peters has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is a certified data privacy solutions engineer, certified information systems auditor, and qualified security assessor, among other certifications.
