Berkeley Research Group (BRG), an Emeryville, CA-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Mason Pan as a managing director in its disputes and investigations practice in Washington, DC.

Pan brings nearly 20 years of experience advising law firms and corporate clients on government investigations, commercial disputes, corporate compliance monitorships, and enterprise-wide risk reviews.

“Mason understands the pressure our clients face when stakes are high. His deep technical expertise, global perspective and track record of applying innovative solutions to complex investigations make him an ideal fit for our team,” said David Sunding, vice chairman of BRG.

Pan focuses on helping clients identify, quantify, and remediate risks related to antitrust, bribery and corruption, financial crime, sanctions, and trade controls. He also designs and implements monitoring solutions for detecting and managing risk in real time.

Pan has advised on matters before enforcement authorities in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.

He was previously a managing director at BDO, principal and Americas leader for data analytics at Control Risks, and a director at FTI Consulting.

“I’m excited to join BRG’s highly regarded Investigations team and collaborate with legal and compliance leaders who are on the front lines of risk management,” said Pan.

He has a dual bachelor’s degree in economics and industrial engineering from Northwestern University.

BRG was founded in 2010 and has 1,600+ employees across 40+ global offices. The firm provides expert and consulting services in disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement.
