HKA appoints Alan Whitman as chairman

HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm, yesterday announced the appointment of Alan Whitman as chairman.

Whitman, the former chairman and CEO of Baker Tilly US, succeeds John Alexander.

Alexander served as chairman since HKA’s genesis in 2017, when Hill International sold its construction claims consulting practice to private equity firm Bridgepoint.

Alexander, who is based in London, remains the chairman of PA Consulting Group. He was formerly the chairman and CEO of Environmental Resources Management.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to John Alexander for his invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to HKA,” said Renny Borhan, CEO of HKA. “Under his guidance, HKA has achieved remarkable milestones and strengthened its position as a global leader in risk management, dispute resolution, and expert witness services.”

Based in Naples, Florida, Whitman currently leads his independent consulting firm, ADW Advisory, which he founded in 2023. He is also a strategic advisor to Elite Sports Gaming, Arborx Inc, Propense.AI, and HubSync.

Between 2015 and 2023, he served as chairman and CEO of Baker Tilly US. During his tenure, he tripled the accounting and consulting firm’s revenue from $500 million to $1.5 billion.

Before serving as CEO, he led the firm’s international services practice and its Detroit office.
