AIO Energy Services, a St. Louis based energy start-up, has launched a new division focused on energy brokerage services.

Founded earlier this year by Derek Stegall, AIO Energy Services provides energy brokerage services to players in the wholesale/retail markets, focusing on traditional commercial and industrial end-users such as hospitals, governments, universities, and schools.

“Recognizing the global shift to renewables and clean energy coupled with the continued dependence on conventional energy, I can’t think of a better time to expand into energy brokerage services,” said Stegall.

“We aim to establish AIO Energy Services as the leading premier Service-Disabled Veteran Enterprise (SDVE) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) energy services firm,” Stegall added.

To design and setup the new division, Stegall tapped NMS Consulting, a management consultancy with an established strategic and organisational track record in the energy and infrastructure sector.

Over the past four months, NMS Consulting helped the energy start-up with services including corporate strategy (concepting the business opportunity), organisational design, business processes engineering and outsourcing, and compliance and risk management. The consulting firm also helped AIO Energy Services with finding and selecting an energy services provider to kickstart its brokerage offerings.

In April, the work culminated into the first milestone: a strategic brokerage relationship agreement with a “top-tiered energy services provider”, according to Stegall.

Prior to launching the energy start-up, Stegall worked with the United States Marine Corps for eight years, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 and 2 and several other global hot spots. Following his honorable discharge, he spent around a decade in leadership positions in the energy and chemicals sectors.
