Scott Sparks joins SGS Maine Pointe as managing director, private equity
Scott Sparks has joined SGS Maine Pointe, a supply chain and operations consultancy, as a managing director in the private equity sector practice.
Based in Orange County, CA, Sparks brings more than 25 years of experience partnering with private equity (PE) firms and corporate leadership to drive financial and market value improvement via acquisition, organic growth, and operational profit improvement.
In his new role at SGS Maine Pointe, Sparks will support PE clients from pre-deal to exit as they address challenges including rising capital costs, a competitive environment for acquisitions, and volatile revenue in many portfolio company industries.
“Significant operations improvement has moved from optional to mandatory to maintain the returns that PE investors demand,” said Jeff Staub, CEO of SGS Maine Pointe. “Scott brings a long history of value creation in private equity through operations improvement. His leadership and industry insight will be instrumental in helping our PE sponsor and management team clients develop new sources of enterprise value as the industry evolves.”
Sparks joins SGS Maine Pointe from management consultancy TriVista, where he spent the last five years as a senior managing director and leader of the enterprise value and operations improvement business. Before that he spent three years as president for North America at Proxima, a supply chain and procurement consultancy acquired by Bain in May 2022.
Sparks also previously spent 13 years at Accenture, where he was a senior partner in the business consulting practice and a leader in the firm’s business strategy and supply chain organizations.
In the early 2000s, Sparks launched and ran Dynamic Pricing Solutions, an electronic auction services startup.
He began his consulting career at Kearney in 1995, where he was a Los Angeles-based consultant in the firm’s strategy practice.
Sparks has an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
“SGS Maine Pointe is on a steep upward trajectory and has recently been recognized as the #1 Supply Chain Consulting Firm in the US,” said Sparks. “I’m thrilled to be joining this award-winning organization and to be a part of the team that takes the firm to the next stage in its evolution.”
The Boston-headquartered consulting firm recently promoted Stephen Ottley to senior managing director and head of the energy and chemicals sector.
