Stax, a Boston-headquartered M&A strategy consulting firm, has acquired AMR International, a London-based boutique strategy consultancy.

Founded in 1991, AMR supports corporate and private equity clients in technology, events, media, B2B Information, business services, and industrials. The firm provides consulting services in strategy, transaction support, performance improvement, digital, and advanced analytics – with particular expertise delivering buy- and sell-side commercial due diligence.

AMR has more than 30 consultants and has completed over 2000 projects (including 500 private equity engagements) across 40+ countries.

Stax – which is backed by Blue Point Capital Partners – will expand its presence into London and Paris through the acquisition. The bolt-on is Stax’s first since it was acquired by Blue Point in 2021.

“Geographic expansion through M&A is a key growth driver and an important component of our long-term strategy for Stax, and AMR’s reputation and presence in the UK is a true enhancement to the platform,” said Jeff Robich, partner at Blue Point.

Stax provides corporate and private equity clients with consulting in commercial due diligence, value creation, and exit planning. The firm has more than 275 people across locations in Boston, Chicago, New York, and Sri Lanka.

“The AMR team is thrilled to be joining Stax as we embark on a new period of innovative growth,” said Denzil Rankine, founder and executive chairman of AMR. “The alignment between our service offerings and cultures, combined with the complimentary geographic coverage our organizations offer, will allow us to provide an even stronger client experience as a united firm, notably for cross-Atlantic private equity firms.”

Jayson Traxler, who was recently appointed president of Stax, added, “Our people are the foundation of our success, and we could not be happier to now count the talented individuals at AMR as part of the Stax team.”
