IT consultancy OST rebrands to Vervint
Open Systems Technologies (OST), a Grand Rapids, MI-based IT consulting firm, has rebranded to Vervint.
The company, which was founded in 1997 to deliver UNIX/NT environments for commercial applications, today has more than 300 employees across offices in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Minneapolis, and London, UK.
Vervint helps clients in healthcare, manufacturing, and professional services optimize infrastructure and build digital products. The firm’s offerings include IT strategy, IT architecture, digital product development, DevOps and security, data analytics, and customer experience.
"Our business has expanded beyond our founding capabilities both organically and through acquisitions of software development, design, user research and cloud expertise companies," said Lisa Jilek, who was appointed president and CEO earlier this year. "Today, we take the next step in our journey to help our employees and clients reach new levels of success. Our name and brand are changing to fully represent our unwavering commitment to providing purposeful digital change for people."
Made-up words are a good way to create a distinct brand, enable simpler trademarking, and drive better SEO. What’s an Accenture? I don’t know, but it sounds fine.
Vervint evokes the words “verve” and “verdant,” both of which have positive connotations.
"Vervint remains committed to delivering excellent service and delighting our clients at every touch point," said Jim VanderMey, Vervint CIO and co-founder. "Our purpose is progress, and we're here to create meaningful impact, going beyond great tech, to improve lives – for our employees, clients, and the communities in which we live and work."
Vervint was acquired by Koniag Inc. in 2012. Koniag is an Alaska Native Corporation with more than 4,500 Alutiiq shareholders from the Kodiak Archipelago in Alaska.
