Milliman names Bret Linton as chair of the board

Milliman, a Seattle-based actuarial and consulting firm, has elected Bret Linton as its next chair of the board.
Linton, who has been at Milliman since 2009, succeeds Ken Mungan, who is completing a 10-year tenure as chair.
During Mungan’s tenure, Milliman has grown by 96%, added offices in 11 new countries, and acquired 11 firms.
“I’m happy to pass the torch to Bret,” said Mungan. “We share a commitment to building retirement security, and to protecting the health and financial well-being of people everywhere.”
Linton has more than 25 years of experience in employee benefits and management consulting, with a specialization in retirement plan consulting for private and public employers.
For the last four years, he has served as global practice director for employee benefits. Linton also helped lead Milliman’s global benefit affiliate MBWL International.
Prior to joining Milliman as a principal, Linton was a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting and an advanced consultant at Hewitt Associates (now Aon).
He has a bachelor’s degree in statistics from Brigham Young University.
“I’m excited by the opportunity to lead Milliman at this exciting time in the firm’s history, and I’m honored that my partners have chosen me for this important role,” said Linton. “Milliman is at a unique point in its history, following an incredible decade of growth on Ken’s watch. We are a global company that does business in 75 countries, solving complex challenges for a world at risk.”
Founded in 1947, Milliman has practices across risk, retirement and benefits, insurance, and health. The firm works with business, financial, government, union, education, and nonprofit organizations.
Milliman has more than 4,200 employees, according to LinkedIn.
