Milliman forms AI solutions practice

Milliman, a Seattle-headquartered actuarial and consulting firm, has launched an AI solution practice.

Milliman AI Solutions will deliver artificial intelligence consulting services to insurance, healthcare, and benefits clients. The practice will draw on the firm’s existing data science capabilities to help clients identify and capitalize on strategic opportunities in AI.

“Any technology firm can build a model,” said Alexandre Boumezoued, Milliman AI Solutions leader. “What our clients need – and what we uniquely provide – is AI that has been designed, validated, and deployed by the people who understand their business from the inside out.”

The practice will offer solutions across areas such as accelerated claims review; sentiment tracking for healthcare inflation; automated regulatory compliance reporting; enterprise-level internal governance, monitoring, and controls; and unlocking institutional knowledge with AI.

Milliman says the new AI practice will work in close collaboration with its existing practice areas.

“We are not applying AI to problems we don’t understand. Instead, our professionals are applying new technology to problems they’ve been solving their whole careers – and that makes all the difference,” Boumezoued added.

Founded in 1947, Milliman has practices across risk, retirement and benefits, insurance, and health. The firm works with business, financial, government, union, education, and nonprofit organizations.

Milliman has more than 4,500 employees, according to LinkedIn.
