Baker Tilly to acquire CironeFriedberg

Baker Tilly US has agreed to acquire CironeFriedberg, a Shelton, CT-based accounting and consulting firm.

Founded in 1945, CironeFriedberg works with middle-market businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and nonprofits in New York and Connecticut. The firm has offerings across tax, accounting, assurance, business valuation, strategy consulting, and outsourced CFO/controller services.

CironeFriedberg works with clients in industries such as manufacturing, real estate, construction, and medical practices.

The firm has 48 employees listed on LinkedIn and offices in Shelton, Bethel, and Darien, Connecticut.

“Expanding in the Northeast is a critical step in our long-term growth strategy,” said Fred Massanova, Baker Tilly’s chief growth officer and managing principal for the Eastern US. “CironeFriedberg brings a wealth of experience and industry expertise, further solidifying our commitment to this market.”

The CironeFriedberg deal arrives shortly after Baker Tilly announced its intent to acquire Hancock Askew & Co. LLP, a Savannah, GA-based accounting and consulting firm.

Baker Tilly in a press release said the two transactions “reflect the momentum” from the 2024 private equity investment of Hellman & Friedman and Valeas Capital Partners, which has accelerated its growth strategy.

Koltin Consulting, an M&A consulting specialist focusing on financial and professional services firms, advised on both the CironeFriedberg and Hancock Askew deals.
