Harold Furchtgott-Roth joins BRG’s TMT practice as senior advisor

Harold Furchtgott-Roth, PhD, has joined Berkeley Research Group’s technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) practice as a senior advisor. He is based in Washington, DC.

Furchtgott-Roth is a telecom economist with over 40 years of experience in consulting, government, and academia. He has deep expertise in telecom industry mergers and acquisitions, spectrum reallocation, regulatory reform, and deregulation.

He has led his economic consulting firm Furchtgott-Roth Economic Enterprises since 2003. Furchtgott-Roth is also a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank he joined in 2011. He founded the organization’s center for the economics of the internet and co-founded the forum for intellectual property.

Furchtgott-Roth is also currently an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School.

Between 1997 and 2001, he served as commissioner of the FCC, and between 1995 and 1997 served as chief economist of the US House of Representatives’ committee on commerce.

Earlier in his career, Furchtgott-Roth was a senior economist at Economists Incorporated and a research analyst at the Center for Naval Analyses.

He has a PhD in economics from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from MIT.

His advanced economic and analytical skills and deep experience bolster the existing strength of our TMT group,” said Raymond Kolls, a BRG managing director and co-leader of its economics, disputes, and investigations business line.

BRG recently welcomed Robert Mills as a managing director and Frank Stabile as a director in its intellectual property practice in Los Angeles.
