Paul Farfel joins HKA as partner in forensic accounting practice

Paul Farfel has joined HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm, as a partner in the forensic accounting and commercial damages (FACD) practice.

Based in New York, Farfel has more than 35 years of Big Four experience in financial and forensic accounting and auditing, fraud detection, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, financial damages, risk management, due diligence, dispute resolution, and litigation consulting.

He has extensive experience working with financial services clients such as banks, wealth and asset managers, and insurance firms.

Farfel has conducted forensic accounting investigations in matters relating to the 2008 credit crisis, Ponzi schemes by investment managers, and SEC and DOJ regulatory investigations.

“We are delighted to welcome Paul to HKA. His decades of experience in forensic accounting, regulatory investigations, and litigation consulting, combined with his prior Big Four leadership and deep understanding of financial institutions, make him an exceptional addition to our team,” said Paul Ficca, regional CEO for the Americas, HKA.

Farfel previously spent 38 years with EY US, where he was a partner in the New York office. He spent the last 15 years as a forensic accountant in the general counsel’s office, and before that was a partner in EY’s private equity accounting advisory center and its risk management and regulatory practice.

Farfel has an MBA from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Georgetown University. He is a certified public accountant and certified in financial forensics.

“Joining HKA is a natural next step in my career,” Farfel said. “The firm’s reputation for excellence in forensic accounting and dispute resolution, combined with its global reach and collaborative culture, creates an ideal environment to deliver meaningful results for clients facing complex challenges.”

Headquartered in London, HKA has more than 1,000 professionals globally delivering services in risk mitigation, dispute resolution, expert witness, and litigation support. The firm focuses on the construction and energy industries.

HKA recently welcomed David Tenenbaum as a principal in its intellectual property and patent damages practice in Chicago.
