BRG hires Richard Bajner to lead integrated health solutions practice

Berkeley Research Group (BRG), an Emeryville, CA-based management consulting firm, has hired Richard Bajner as a managing director and head of its integrated health solutions (IHS) practice.

Based in Chicago, Bajner brings nearly two decades of healthcare sector consulting experience, with expertise across revenue growth, payment innovation, and value-based care transformation for health systems, payers, and government agencies.

In his new role at BRG, Bajner will focus on helping healthcare payers and providers design and implement growth strategies for sustainable performance.

“Health systems, payers, and investors all face enormous pressure to adapt to complex regulatory shifts, demographic changes and capital constraints,” said Tri MacDonald, CEO and president of BRG. “Rich’s deep expertise, coupled with his entrepreneurial mindset and ability to bridge strategy to execution, will help our clients not only navigate these headwinds but seize new opportunities for growth.”

Bajner joins BRG from Henry Ford Health, where he spent a year as a senior advisor counseling leadership on managed care, payer strategy, and network integration. Before that, he spent 18 years with Guidehouse/Navigant Consulting, where he was a partner and leader of the payer and provider division at Guidehouse and leader of the healthcare strategy and value transformation practice at Navigant.

Bajner has a master’s degree in health systems management from Rush University and a bachelor’s degree in community health and preventative medicine from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

“What drew me to BRG is its collaborative spirit and ability to bring together some of the brightest minds in the industry, enabling full-service advisory counsel on issues ranging from financial improvement, payment innovation, deal strategy, health policy, transactions advisory and dispute resolution,” said Bajner.

BRG has 1,600+ employees across 40+ global offices providing expert and consulting services in disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement.

The firm recently hired Michael Kwak and Peter Smith as managing directors.
