Sikich hires Robert Todero as principal in government audit practice

Sikich, a Chicago-headquartered accounting and consulting firm, has hired Robert Todero as a principal in its government audit practice.

Based in Washington, DC, Todero brings more than 38 years of experience in federal and state government agencies and private institutions.

He was previously an audit partner with KPMG, providing guidance on financial reporting, compliance, and operational performance. Todero has worked with federal agencies including the US Department of the Treasury, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and Department of Energy.

Sikich was recently awarded a contact to provide financial statement audit services to the Department of Homeland Security. Todero will serve as a component principal on the contract and help shape strategy in the federal market.

“Robert brings a depth of experience supporting federal agencies and navigating complex regulatory environments that strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality audit and compliance services,” said Melinda DeCorte, principal at Sikich. “His leadership and insight will play a key role as we continue to deliver audit and compliance services that support transparency and mission readiness.”

Todero spent over a decade as chair of the District of Columbia Board of Accountancy and currently serves as Middle-Atlantic regional director on NASBA’s board of directors.

He has a juris doctor from Indiana University and a bachelors’ degree in accounting from the University of Colorado. Todero is a certified public accountant and a member of the DC Bar.

Sikich has approximately 2,500 people across 19 offices in the US and India. It is the 25th-largest CPA firm in the US, according to Inside Public Accounting, with annual revenue of $438.9 million.
