Rimkus buys Boston-based Commercial Construction Consulting
Rimkus Consulting Group, a Houston-based forensic engineering and technical consulting firm, has acquired Commercial Construction Consulting (C3), a Boston-based engineering and development advisory firm.
C3 provides technical services in property condition assessments, capital planning, development and construction support, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and consulting, code consulting, and vertical transportation consulting. The firm’s 20+ professionals work with institutional investors, building owners, property management firms, and government entities.
Rimkus’ acquisition of C3 will expand its Boston office and strengthen its building sciences practice, which focuses on real estate, development advisory services, vertical transportation services, and energy audits.
“Boston has always been a growing market for us, particularly for façade inspections, and having a stronger presence in the area with C3 allows us to expand our service offerings to even more clients. Additionally, their expertise in areas such as vertical transportation will help us expand a growing area for Rimkus,” said Robert Kocher, president and CEO of Rimkus.
Curtis Brown, chairman and executive director of Rimkus, added, “They have built an impressive company that understands every aspect of the building lifecycle, which makes them an excellent addition to Rimkus.”
The Houston-based consulting firm has made 11 acquisitions since 2020, including Sullivan Engineering in August. The deal added a team of more than 60 professionals across New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts with expertise in building envelope surveys, historic preservation, and façade restoration.
Rimkus most recently acquired Human Factors, a Philadelphia-area firm providing human factors consulting to medical devices firms.
“The opportunity to join a global firm with a terrific reputation such as Rimkus is something we have been considering for quite some time; we believe we found the perfect fit with Rimkus,” said James Kirby, president and CEO of C3.
Rimkus provides forensic engineering, technical consulting, and expert witness services to insurance companies, law firms, corporations, and government agencies. The company also provides architecture, engineering, and construction services for the built environment, including restoration design, facility risk assessment, and due diligence property assessment. Rimkus has more than 1,300 employees across 110+ offices in the US, Canada, and the UK.
