Baker Tilly appoints Joy Duce as chief people officer
Baker Tilly US has appointed Joy Duce as chief people officer. She is based in the accounting and consulting firm’s Chicago headquarters.
In her new role Duce will oversee strategy and operations for Baker Tilly’s recruiting, talent management, and learning and development functions. She succeeds Todd Stoker, who held the role since 2019 and will transition to a senior advisory partner role focusing on development of the firm’s nearly 600 partners.
Duce has over 20 years of human resources leadership experience in both consulting and internal corporate HR areas. She joined Baker Tilly in 2020 as a managing director co-leading the firm’s human resources function and strategy.
Before that, Duce spent a year-and-a-half at staffing firm Novo Group, where she held COO and interim CEO roles.
She also previously spent 12 years at Sikich, holding internal and client-facing leadership roles – including partner-in-charge of human capital management consulting and director of HR and administration.
Earlier in her career, Duce was an HR manager at Beer Capital Distributing Co.
She has a bachelor’s degree in human resources and marketing from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
“Joy is a thoughtful leader with innovative ideas for the future of our people and our firm,” said Chuck Droege, chief operating officer, Baker Tilly US. “As the worldwide landscape of work changes, Joy’s leadership style and background make her perfectly poised to guide us through a watershed moment in our organizational development.”
Duce added, “Our talented team members are our X factor. I’m honored to lead the strategy behind development and support of our remarkable professionals.”
Baker Tilly US has more than 6,500 employees and is the 10th-largest accounting and consulting firm in the country, with $1.31 billion in annual revenue.
The firm last month announced the acquisition of ACG Certified Public Accountants and Henry+Horne.
