HoganTaylor, a Tulsa-based accounting and consulting firm, has partnered with Guernsey, a, Oklahoma City-based design and consulting firm, on providing Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) services.

CMMC is an upcoming cybersecurity certification required for Department of Defense (DoD) contractors handling sensitive information. The DoD already requires many contractors to comply with NIST 800-171, a set of cybersecurity practices to safeguard sensitive information; the CMMC will be a formal assessment evaluating compliance with NIST 800-171.

The DoD is currently in the process of determining the CMMC’s scope, requirements, and timeline for incorporation into government contracts.

"Amid changing regulations, we aim to offer clear guidance—together, Guernsey and HoganTaylor can provide comprehensive advice and leadership for clients to manage cybersecurity risks and enhance their cyber posture effectively," said Tim Fawcett, VP and director of cybersecurity consulting at Guernsey.HoganTaylor partners with Guernsey on defense contractor cyber complianceThe partnership will combine HoganTaylor’s scale and compliance expertise with Guernsey’s cybersecurity capabilities.

HoganTaylor has more than 350 people across offices in Oklahoma and Arkansas providing assurance, consulting, and tax services. The firm is the 82nd largest CPA firm in the United States, with $63.2 million in annual revenue, according to IPA.

Guernsey has more than 130 employees, according to LinkedIn, and provides an array of design and consulting services. The firm’s offerings include planning, architecture, interior design, engineering, and environmental services, as well as cybersecurity.

Guernsey is the only Oklahoma-based company to achieve Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO) status, which authorizes the firm to deliver CMMC assessments.

Together, the companies will provide defense contractors with CMMC-related audit readiness assessments, consulting to address compliance gaps, and official certification assessments.

"We're always looking for opportunities to enhance our risk assurance service offerings to provide additional value to our clients," said Kevin Hearn, risk assurance partner at HoganTaylor. "Our collaboration with Guernsey allows us to offer a comprehensive CMMC compliance solution to our clients in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB)."
