Accenture buys industrials tech consultant Zielpuls

Accenture has entered an agreement to acquire Germany-based Zielpuls, a technology consultancy supporting clients in the automotive, industrial equipment, medtech, and high-tech industries.

Accenture Industry X.0, which helps businesses transform industry with advanced digital technology, has been bolstered by a raft of strategic acquisitions as the management and tech consulting giant continues to snap up firms across its vast practice areas.

In the US, Industry X.0 recently added Pillar Technology, which develops software for the automotive industry, and Mindtribe, a hardware engineering firm. In Europe, the division was recently bolstered by the acquisition of German strategic design consultancy designaffairs, as well as life sciences industry advisor Enterprise System Partners (Ireland).

The acquisition of Zielpuls will further strengthen Industry X.0’s ability to design smart products and services for automotive clients, while also adding tech advisory capabilities in medical technology, industrial equipment, and high tech.Accenture buys industrials tech consultant ZielpulsFounded in 2008 and based in Munich, Zielpuls delivers consulting in architecture, development, engineering, and management for complex digital products and services. The consultancy has developed architecture for driver assistance systems, helped medtech firms automate production, and defined the IT architecture for the operation of high-speed trains, among other complex technical projects.

The firm has 190 professionals across three offices in Germany, and two offices in China.

“The team of engineers and technologists of Zielpuls will strengthen our ability to develop connected, intelligent architectures for automotive clients, both in Germany and globally,” Axel Schmidt, managing director and global lead of Accenture’s automotive industry practice, said.

“Zielpuls has started to branch out into other areas, such as medical technology, where software and data-driven services will transform the core products. Its engineering know-how and ability to orchestrate operating systems for smart products will help us build an organization that can co-create and reimagine smart connected products and services with clients from ideation through production," Andrew Smith, managing director and Accenture Industry X.0 lead in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and Russia, added.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
