Cabot Corporation taps Cognizant to upgrade its digital operating model
Cabot Corporation, a Boston-headquartered chemicals company, has selected technology consultancy Cognizant to help the company transform its digital operating model.
Battered by the pandemic, Cabot - a leading provider of carbon black, specialty carbons, inkjet colorants, and aerogels - saw its 2020 revenues fall to $2.6 billion, down from $3.3 billion in 2019.
Cognizant’s multi-year engagement will focus on building strategic business partnerships and digitalizing the way Cabot does business to make it more effective and efficient. Cognizant will leverage a data-driven approach that targets continuous improvement across business services, outcomes, and global operations.
Apart from its strategic consulting work, Cognizant will also act as a managed services provider for application development and maintenance (ADM) and infrastructure and operations (I&O) services that will enable automation, self-service, cloud, AI, and DevOps-guided processes.
“Cognizant is proud to support Cabot's multi-year transformation journey, helping drive digital innovation with its customers and generating strong cash flows through efficiency and optimization," said Saurabh Mehta, Cognizant's global head of manufacturing, logistics, energy, and utilities.
Headquartered in Teaneck, NJ, Cognizant has approximately 290,000 professionals globally providing a full suite of IT consulting and outsourcing services to large organizations in a range of industries. The firm’s revenues dropped by 0.8% to $16.7 billion in 2020.
"We were looking for a trusted partner that understands our business and would not only transform how we deliver services, but also stimulate and reimagine the art of the possible with innovative thinking in support of our accelerated digitalization," said Ivan Skerl, Cabot's VP and chief digital and information officer. "Cognizant's track record in global delivery, high standards of customer satisfaction, and demonstrated capabilities in driving transformational programs gave us confidence in their ability to deliver us a competitive advantage.
