Ex-FBI investigator James Roache joins HKA's Chicago office

James Roache, an experienced law enforcement expert, has joined consulting firm HKA as a principal in the forensic accounting & commercial damages group in Chicago.

Roache has more than 36 years of experience in forensic accounting and investigations. He has extensive investigation experience in fraud, money laundering, and asset forfeiture/tracing, and has worked on cases involving organized crime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and violent crime.

Roache has also assisted agencies on improving internal compliance programs – delivering assessments to enable detection and prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse.

He previously spent over five years in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he was bureau chief of investigations for the second most populous county in the country. Before that, Roache spent nearly three years as inspector general in the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Earlier in his career, Roache spent 22 years at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he was latterly senior supervisor resident agent in the Chicago division. He began his career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen.

Roache has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Xavier University and is a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner.
