CGI wins contract with Texas comptroller to implement new ERP system
CGI, a management and technology consulting firm, has won a contract with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to implement a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) enterprise financial system.
The modern, cloud-based system will be based on CGI Advantage, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform for state and local governments. Advantage has solutions for financial management, human resources management, performance budgeting, collections, and procurement.
The project for the Texas comptroller’s office will include the financial management solution, vendor self-services capabilities, and integration with various state systems.
CGI will replace Texas’ legacy uniform statewide accounting system (USAS), Texas identification number system (TINS), and state property accounting (SPA).
The Texas comptroller’s office oversees payment and accounting for all state agencies, as well as collection of all state tax revenue.
CGI’s new ERP system will process more than 42.7 million transactions annually and support approximately 5,000 total users across 225 state agencies and higher education institutions.
"As Texans, we recognize the responsibility in replacing the Uniform Statewide Accounting System that has reliably processed billions of dollars in payments for the State of Texas," said Wes Carberry, SVP and business unit leader for Texas, CGI. "CGI is committed to supporting that legacy of reliability with our solution which has been built specifically for government and will preserve the critical functionality that has long served the state—while delivering a modern, more efficient, and user-friendly technology platform.”
Kelly Hancock, acting Texas comptroller, added, "CGI Advantage has a proven track record in similar statewide implementations, and its purpose-built design for government is structured to support a seamless transition for this critical project."
CGI was recently awarded a $200-million contract extension for IT managed services for California’s case management, information, and payrolling system (CMIPS).
CGI was founded in 1976 and is based in Montreal, Canada. The firm has 93,000 consultants globally delivering services across business consulting, applications, systems integration, infrastructure, business process services, and managed IT.
