California extends payroll processing services contract with CGI
The State of California has signed a $200-million contract extension with IT consultancy CGI to continue delivering managed services for the Case Management, Information and Payrolling System (CMIPS).
CMIPS supports California’s In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program, which provides essential care to over 850,000 recipients and employees over 760,000 caregivers.
As part of the extension, CGI will continue to provide business process outsourcing (BPO) and IT services for IHSS payroll processing – which covers 1.5 million payments each month and more than $19 billion annually.
CGI’s contract work has included initiatives to streamline payroll and case management processes, strengthen security, and improve service delivery. The firm has worked with the state government to migrate legacy infrastructure to the cloud, digitize timesheets, and introduce DevOps automation.
“Our shared roadmap focuses on cloud modernization, AI-powered insights, multilingual mobile experiences, and agile responses to new legislation,” said Virginia Williams, SVP and business unit leader, US Northwest operations at CGI. “We’re proud to help strengthen the program so caregivers and those they support receive the efficient, reliable services they deserve."
CGI was founded in 1976 and is based in Montreal, Canada. The firm performs federal agency client work via its US-based subsidiary CGI Federal.
CGI has 94,000 consultants globally delivering services across business consulting, applications, systems integration, infrastructure, business process services, and managed IT.
