West Monroe adds product development firm Carbon Five

West Monroe Partners, a Chicago-headquartered management and technology consultancy, has acquired Carbon Five, a San Francisco-based digital product development consulting firm.

Founded in 2000, Carbon Five works with startups and Fortune 1000s on building digital products and improving product management and development capabilities. The firm has nearly 100 professionals across offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Chattanooga, TN.

West Monroe’s acquisition of Carbon Five follows the consulting firm’s September purchase of Verys, a Santa Ana, CA-based digital product engineering firm with approximately 200 people.

West Monroe says Verys and Carbon Five round out the foundation of its global product development unit, which was announced in September. A subsequent strategic investment from MSD Partners in October further accelerated the development of the unit, which still has future bolt-ons planned, according to the consultancy.

Co-founders Mike Wynholds and Don Thompson will continue to run Carbon Five as a West Monroe-owned company until integration, which is expected to be complete in 2022.
